A night guard was killed on Monday night in a shootout between Mandera governor Ali Roba’s bodyguard and suspected women terrorists.
The four, cladin black buibui, were walking on a road in Mandera town at around midnight when they met the police officer.
“They acted as if they wanted help but soon I realised they were armed and dangerous, a shootout ensued and in the process, a night guard at a nearby premise was shot dead,” the officer said.
Police said the guard was shot in the buttocks and bled to death.
The gunmen, believed to be members of the al Shabaab terror group, escaped towards the Kenya- Somalia border.
